The surgeon I need isn’t showing up. What do I do?

What to do when a surgeon isn’t showing up or can’t be found in the app.

Surgeons are pulled from the NPI (National Provider Identifier) database. Every licensed surgeon is required to be registered there, so if a surgeon isn't appearing, it's a search issue — not a missing provider. Try the steps below.

If you're connected to Wi-Fi

  • Tap the Provider field and search by the surgeon's first and last name.

  • If no results come back, try searching by last name only — middle names, suffixes, and hyphenated names can interfere with results.

  • Still not showing up? Look up their exact registered name at nppes.cms.hhs.gov and search using the name exactly as it appears there.

  • If the surgeon's location looks wrong, you can still select them — the NPI database doesn't always reflect a provider's current practice location, and that won't affect your case.

If you're offline / in the OR

You only need your facility, facility department, and supplier to add items to a case — so if you're in the OR without signal, you can still build the case with what you have.

Once you're back on signal, go back in and add the surgeon to complete the case before submitting.

Tip: Favorite your regular surgeons while on Wi-Fi so you can access, them offline and they're easy to find when you're ready to add them.
