How does offline mode work? How do I use it reliably in the OR?

How offline mode works and how to use Helia reliably in the OR without Wi-Fi.

Helia is built to work in environments with poor or no connectivity. Here’s how to set it up correctly.

Before you go offline — do this at home on strong Wi-Fi

  • Download the app and log in on strong Wi-Fi. Stay on the blue loading screen until the initial download is complete. This downloads your contract and catalog data.

  • Favorite your regular surgeons. In the Provider field, search and star each surgeon you work with frequently. Favorited providers are available offline; others are not.

To Enable offline mode

  • Turn on airplane mode (yes, like you're on a plane) once you’re in a low-signal area. This forces the app into offline mode properly. Without it, the app may keep trying to reconnect and cause delays.

While offline

You only need your facility, facility department, and supplier to add items to a case — so if you're in the OR without signal, you can still build the case with what you have.

When you tap Submit, the case will show as ‘Saving’ until you reconnect to Wi-Fi or cellular — at which point it syncs automatically. Don’t close the app while saving; let it run in the background until you have connectivity.

Tip: Favorite your regular surgeons while on Wi-Fi so you can access, them offline and they're easy to find when you're ready to add them.

Note: Cases submitted offline are queued and sync in the order they were submitted. If you have multiple pending cases, once back online, let the sync fully complete before logging out.
